Growing up in the 80's, this had to be the one for me. Improved turbo GNX engine in an F body. Just ridiculously awesome

If the image works:

Kinja'd!!!

If not - the Dodge Daytona. Why? There's no way the Daytona could pace those things! Impossible!

(I like your pace car better, I'm a big Turbo Buick fan)

The Dodge M4S PPG pace car was pretty cool, it became the Wraith for that cheesy-cool 80's thiller.

My boss owns one of these. I really love the lines of the car. He also owns a Grand National, a lifted TJ Wrangler, and a SVT Lightning. He's kind of a bad ass.

My favorite is the 1967 Camaro Indy 500 pace car. Kinda gets pushed aside for the 69 with its bright orange stripes and interior, but the 67 was just classy looking with its ermine white and marina blue paint job to the bright blue deluxe interior. These cars were just georgous.

Since I have never been a huge American car buff, did the hideaway headlights debut on this car, I thought those came out on the 68 RS. Just looking for knowledge with that question, seems like you might know the answer with your screen name. I do like how clean that is though

All good..

but I can't help but wonder what it would be like to mash-up the SN95 hardware into the 79 Fox pace car...

I know the modular motor and IRS didn't come until later, but those, the cobra disc brakes, those 17" 5-hole wheels... all on the 79 Fox... with the silver and black livery...

(I might fudge a bit, and black out the windshield frame in front of the t-tops to go with the window frames, sail panels, and cowl hood, even if it isn't 100% accurate... a lot of the pace-car replicas sold were solid roof or sunroof cars, rather than t-top cars anyway...)

I've driven a FWD chrysler with the 2.2 Turbo engine and a 5-speed... it was brutal.

But a mid-engined car with that drivetrain, actually available for sale... would have made serious waves.

The hideaway headlights were an option when the camaro debut in late 66. The 67-68 hideaways look identical but there are difference between the two mainly the system that operates the doors. In 67 they were electric motors but way too small and would fry quickly so in 68 they went to engine vacuum that's is a mess of hoses. The 69 camaro still had hideaways but now the doors had 3 slats in them to allow some light though in vase of malfunction. The first generation camaro is the only years to have hideaways. The trans am didn't get them till 82 and had them till the last of the 4th gens in 2002

Hard not to love the GTS Viper. I had a 1/18th scale die cast of this car with the pace car stripes and all. I miss it.

I later got to drive a Blue with white stripe GTS and the pace car was all I could think about!

I will have to say the 1979 Mustang 2.3 pace car just because I am partial to Fox Body Mustangs.
